New Transportation Fund Launched

At the 21st Annual Courage Awards Gala on June 4, 2019, the CarePlus Foundation launched the “Transportation Fund” to help to remove a major obstacle to care.

CarePlus considers “Access to Social Supports and Services” to be the fourth pillar of Integrated Behavioral Health Care. The CarePlus Foundation has had grant allocations that address the fourth pillar, including financial assistance to cover medication, housing, education and program support. This missing piece to the puzzle has been a Transportation Fund. This new support allocation is long overdue, especially with an increased demand in services.

Did you know…

  • 6 million individuals do not access medical care because they experience transportation barriers
  • 4 percent of all children miss a medical appointment because of transportation issues.
  • Transportation barriers are the third leading cause of missing a medical appointment for seniors across the country.

The transportation fund will help to provide vehicles for programs, as well as support innovative approaches such as our partnership with UberHealth.

Thank you for your continued support and generosity!
