CarePlus Partners with Bergen County Prosecutors Office to Address School Violence

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, in partnership with CarePlus, announced it has been awarded a grant over three years by the Department of Justice to support the expansion of the Safe Schools Task Force (SSTF) through the implementation of the Bergen County STOP School Violence Initiative. TAPinto Fair Lawn/Glen Rock published an article covering the topic, titled: “Prosecutor’s Office Awarded Grant for School Violence Prevention”:

The “STOP” initiative is an expansion of the SSTF, which will allow the SSTF to address identified training needs for school personnel and students across the 76 school districts in Bergen County. It is projected that more than 540 people will be trained annually, collectively training over 1,600 people during the three years of funding. Trainings will address four broad categories, including:

  • Consistent response protocols and best practices for responding to risk
  • Education on mental health and available resources
  • Trainings for students in bullying and violence prevention
  • Trainings for school personnel on specialized mental health topics, such as suicide prevention and creating positive school culture
