This full day workshop will provide a comprehensive course on the guiding principles, strategies and skills for incorporating motivational interviewing techniques in client-centered work. Particular focus will be in creating opportunities for behavior change. Participants of all experience levels will be introduced to the foundation, theories and framework for implanting a dynamic strength-based strategy for reducing risks and enhancing clients’ strengths. Participants will increase their knowledge base of MI theory, spirit and application of skills.
About the Trainer…
Stephanie Marcello Duva, Ph.D. is an employee of Rutgers University. She is the Chief Psychologist, University Behavioral Health Care in Piscataway, NJ She is also the Program Director for Behavioral Research and Training Institute- Training and Education. She is a Certified Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) And Certified trauma clinician and trained to deliver and supervise PTSD treatment for people who also have a severe and persistent mental illness.
In 2013-2014- (New York, NY)- As a part of her position at Rutgers’s University Behavioral Health Care she trained approximately 200 people in Motivational Interviewing counseling skills and related knowledge, which included Phase 1 of adapting the curriculum and a Phase 2 of developing competencies.
