Females Struggling to Restore Hope: Addressing Depression in a Cultural Context
4 clinical & social and cultural competence continuing education hours for social workers

Trainer: Vashonna Etienne, LCSW
Price: $80

The sociology of depression encompasses the cultural context in which people live, as well as the social stressors that people encounter as a part of life. The sociological aspects of depression are both influenced by and also influence the other biological and psychological aspects of people’s lives. This workshop will address these factors in a cultural context. Many depressed females suffer from trauma, anxiety, anger, and pain. Combined with the stigma of mental health counseling, these conditions impact physical health and social interaction. Workshop participants will be introduced to IRIS, a multi-modal approach, known to help these females improve their overall outlook and mental state.  This workshop is important for mental health professionals who are treatment providers for this population.
