Group Therapy & Support Groups for Children & Families

In addition to our outpatient services, CarePlus offers a variety of group therapy – support groups and therapeutic group sessions – that enhance the mental and physical well-being of children, teens, and parents who are struggling with social, behavioral, and mental health challenges. Freedom from Anxiety

FREEDOM FROM ANXIETY is designed to increase youth’s ability to recognize signs of anxiety and strengthen their coping skills. Group members will learn skills to identify triggers along with managing the thoughts that impact mood and anxiety. The group setting also helps to promote healthy social relationships. This program is offered for various age groups throughout the year.

10-13 years of age: Wednesdays from 5:30pm – 6:30pm in Paramus

14-17 years of age: Mondays from 5:30pm – 6:30pm in Fair Lawn

Socially Creative Summer Camp

SOCIALLY CREATIVE SUMMER CAMP is a unique summer camp experience that provides children aged 7–13 with an opportunity to blend creative arts with social skills, while learning to build friendships and enhance communication skills.

Camp runs July 18-29 & August 1-12, Monday-Friday 9 am – 3 pm

First cycle: July 18th – July 22nd

Second cycle: July 25th – July 29th

Third cycle: August 1st – August 5th

Final cycle is: August 8th – August 12th


Anger Management

ANGER MANAGEMENT PROGRAM targets youth 12-18 years of age who demonstrate difficulty managing anger and other impulsive behaviors. For participating youth, the 10-week curriculum improves anger management skills, increases social skills, and improves personal relationships.

Food, Feelings, and Body Image Group

FOOD, FEELINGS, AND BODY IMAGE supports girls 12-18, who are displaying some of the traits associated with eating disorders such as frequent vomiting, excessive exercise, negative body image, and anxiety, as they navigate psychological, cultural, and physiological pressures. Group members are encouraged to find a healthy and positive balance as their minds and bodies grow, as well as provide appropriate intervention to help prevent progression to an eating disorder. Register by paying the one-time intake fee.

A.L.L.I.E.S. Group

ALLIES LGBTQ SUPPORT GROUP offers weekly group meetings to support LGBTQ youth between the ages of 13-18. This program promotes identity self-acceptance, effective communication skills, and conflict resolution through the use of self-help strategies and activities. Register by paying the one-time intake fee.

This is an ongoing, open group offered Wednesdays from 6:00pm – 7:00pm in Paramus.


Music Therapy Group

MUSIC THERAPY uses the natural elements embedded in music-making to target the needs of children with behavioral, social, or developmental challenges in a non-threatening, engaging and fun way. Throughout the group sessions, children will partake in goal-oriented and evidence-based music experiences. Register by paying the one-time intake fee.

This program is offered for various age groups throughout the year.

7-10 years of age: Tuesdays from 5:30pm – 6:30pm in Fair Lawn
7/12/16 – 8/30/16

Preteens: Tuesdays from 5:30pm – 6:30pm in Fair Lawn

On The Mend Group

ON THE MEND is a support group for children that makes use of the evidence-based Children of Divorce Intervention Program (CODIP) model. Children are provided with support and taught age-appropriate coping skills and techniques to assist with the difficulties experienced by parental divorce and separation. Register by paying the one-time intake fee.

This program is offered for various age groups throughout the year.
5-9 years of age: Thursdays from 6:00pm – 7:00pm in Fair Lawn

Parenting With Common Sense

PARENTING WITH COMMON SENSE is a parenting education group featuring the evidence-based Common Sense Parenting® model. Throughout the group sessions, parents will learn practical and effective ways to discipline their children, increase positive behaviors, decrease negative behaviors, and teach age-appropriate skills.

English: Mondays 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm in Fair Lawn
