Behavior Management for At-Risk Youth: Rescheduled!

This workshop demonstrates a Cognitive Behavior Therapy approach to promote change for youth who are experiencing challenges related to their mental health symptoms and who are struggling to function effectively at home, in school, and in their social environment. Attendees will learn effective methods that can promote positive changes in these areas.

The presentation focuses on eliciting behavioral change through identification of triggers and development of skills to eliminate acting out behavior.

About the speaker…

Sue Heguy, LCSW CarePlusSue Heguy, LCSW brings 15-years of experience in crisis outreach and trauma response services to both adults and youth. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of New Jersey, she is a Trauma Specialist and is certified in PFA/PTSM TII/CBI for post-vention response after a traumatic incident. She is an EMDR trained therapist, currently working towards certification.

As a full-time Clinical Supervisor at CarePlus, she provides school clearance assessments and treats children and families with trauma, depression, anxiety, and disruptive symptoms.

Mrs. Heguy also serves as the Bergen County Coordinator of the Traumatic Loss Coalition, is a national trained instructor for Mental Health First Aid, and is a trained instructor by the Reach Institute in New York in Evidenced Based Therapy-CBT techniques to treat youth suffering from depression, anxiety, trauma, and disruptive behavior. She serves as a trainer for the Suicide Prevention Resource Center on “Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk: Core Competencies for Mental Health Professionals”, and also provides a 2-hour instruction in Suicide Prevention as part of the professional development requirements for public school teaching staff.
