The CarePlus Food, Feelings, and Body Image group helps females who are struggling with healthy eating habits, address their body image and self-esteem.
In most cases, disordered eating is a way of coping with underlying stressors. This CarePlus group will serve to support adolescent females as they navigate psychological, cultural, and physiological pressures. Participants will find a healthy and positive balance as their minds and bodies grow, and will be provided with appropriate interventions to help prevent progression to a more serious mental health challenge.
Program Goals: This 8-week program will explore:
- Positive coping skills
- How to regulate feelings
- Negative body image beliefs
- Physiological stressors
- Developmental body changes
- Healthy nutrition options
These goals will be met through:
- Self-reflection activities
- Exploration of societal expectations and messages
- Discussion of irrational and distorted beliefs
Thursdays from 6:00pm – 7:00pm in Paramus
1/12/17 – 3/2/17
5/25/17 – 7/13/17
