Food, Feelings, and Body Image

CarePlus Food Feelings Body Image

The CarePlus Food, Feelings, and Body Image group helps females who are struggling with healthy eating habits, address their body image and self-esteem.

In most cases, disordered eating is a way of coping with underlying stressors. This CarePlus group will serve to support adolescent females as they navigate psychological, cultural, and physiological pressures. Participants will find a healthy and positive balance as their minds and bodies grow, and will be provided with appropriate interventions to help prevent progression to a more serious mental health challenge.

Program Goals: This 8-week program will explore:

  • Positive coping skills
  • How to regulate feelings
  • Negative body image beliefs
  • Physiological stressors
  • Developmental body changes
  • Healthy nutrition options

These goals will be met through:

  • Self-reflection activities
  • Exploration of societal expectations and messages
  • Discussion of irrational and distorted beliefs
