Group Therapy & Support Groups for Children & Families

In addition to our outpatient services, CarePlus offers a variety of group therapy – support groups and therapeutic group sessions – that enhance the mental and physical well-being of children, teens, and parents that are struggling with social, behavioral, and mental health challenges. Anger Management

ANGER MANAGEMENT PROGRAM targets youth 12-18 years of age who demonstrate difficulty managing anger and other impulsive behaviors. For participating youth, the 10-week curriculum improves anger management skills, increases social skills, and improves personal relationships.

Social Skills

SOCIAL SKILLS PROGRAM is for children and adolescents aged 5 to 18 that uses a curriculum that helps youth develop the skills needed to strengthen relationships and improve communication with others. A recommended bi-weekly Parent Support Group runs simultaneously with the children’s program.

A.L.L.I.E.S LGBTQ Support

ALLIES LGBTQ SUPPORT GROUP offers weekly group meetings to support LGBTQ youth between the ages of 13-18. This program promotes identity self-acceptance, effective communication skills, and conflict resolution through the use of self-help strategies and activities.

Food, Feelings, and Body Image

FOOD, FEELINGS, AND BODY IMAGE supports girls 12-18, who are displaying some of the traits associated with eating disorders such as frequent vomiting, excessive exercise, negative body image, and anxiety, as they navigate psychological, cultural, and physiological pressures.  Group members are encouraged to find a healthy and positive balance as their minds and bodies grow, as well as provide appropriate intervention to help prevent progression to an eating disorder.

Freedom From Anxiety

FREEDOM FROM ANXIETY is designed to increase youth’s ability to recognize signs of anxiety and strengthen their coping skills. Group members will learn skills to identify triggers along with managing the thoughts that impact mood and anxiety. The group setting also helps to promote healthy social relationships.

Music Therapy

MUSIC THERAPY uses the natural elements embedded in music-making to target the needs of children with behavioral, social, or developmental challenges in a non-threatening, engaging and fun way. On The Mend

ON THE MEND is a support group for children that makes use of the evidence-based Children of Divorce Intervention Program (CODIP) model. Children are provided with support and taught age-appropriate coping skills and techniques to assist with the difficulties experienced by parental divorce and separation.

Toolbox for Wellness

TOOLBOX FOR WELLNESS is a therapeutic group for teenage girls that follows a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Model (CBT), an evidence-based treatment modality which helps youth examine their attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors. CBT helps youth identify how their thoughts and actions can be self-defeating, teaching themselves how to replace poor coping skills with positive action.
